Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actress is well known for her work in film and on television since the mid 1980s. The actress has won numerous accolades like the Golden Globe Award as well as sixteen NAACP Image Awards. She is known for her roles in television and in film in the 1980s, she has received various accolades such as two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was raised in New York New York and raised by an aunt living in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett, her sister and their mother were moved from the city of Winston-Salem to St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was 5 years old. Their father had split from the mother of their children. Bassett when she was in high school, saw John Steinbeck's stage play Of Mice and Men with James Earl Jones and she decided to become an actress. She was a student at Yale University New Haven Connecticut and graduated with a bachelor's degree (1980) in African American studies and a master's degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale she came across Courtney B. Vance a fellow actor and the two got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. graduated from the Yale School of Drama School with a Master's Degree on African American studies, in 1980.
